Housing Choice Voucher Programs

The Corpus Christi Housing Authority operates two (2) types of housing voucher programs. The first, and more well-known is the Tenant Based Voucher Program (also referred to as Section 8), and the other newer type known as the Project Based Voucher Program. Now while both programs are similar, they do have some major differences between the two. Shown below is a chart that depicts the some of the differences.

Voucher assigned to specific property/unit. After 1st year, family eligible for Tenant-Based Voucher

Inspections

Units are inspected by our staff at initial and then biennially (every 2 years)

Units inspected by 3rd-party contractor at initial and then biennially
